Week 9 Thing 23

Wow! This is it! This has been an excellent learning experience. Am I fully versed in Web 2.0? No, but I know a whole lot more than I did a few months ago. At least now the vocabulary means something to me. I really like this method of self-paced interactive learning. Probably the best part has been the support from coworkers. We've worked together on this since the beginning and have shared each other's successes.

Week 9 Thing 22

I looked at Overdrive and Project Gutenberg. I was especially interested in the older titles available through PG. There were some childrens' titles that are probably difficult to get hold of in print. I don't use ebooks, but it's good to know about when customers ask.

Week 9 Thing 21

Podcasts have a wealth of possibilities for the library world. They are great for training and diseminating information. I was amazed at the myriad of topics covered by them -everything and anything. I wonder why Yahoo is closing down their podcast site. I successfully subscribed to a program aired on NPR.

Week 9 Thing 20

I couldn't resist this. Actually, this is in tribute to a wonderful librarian who I worked with when I first started. Kay Smith and I spent many happy dinner hours at good old Roy Rogers. And those of you who know me, know that I am a big Pat Boone fan -oh no, the cat's out of the bag! (Donna, I know you're loving this!)

Week 8 Thing 19

There are so many new tools to explore. What an abundance of riches! Web 2.0 has exploded. I'm glad there was a short list on the award winners -it helped narrow my search. I looked at Craigslist and Upcoming. Both are very useful, especially since they can be searched geographically. It will be interesting to see which of the hundreds of these tools survive for the long term.

Week 8 Thing 18

Oh boy! I almost threw in the towel on this one. Somehow I managed to change the password to get into my blog. I'm sure there's a logical explanation, but it was just about the last straw. But I worked my way out of the quagmire and here I am posting about Zoho and Google Docs.

I had some problems with Zoho. I created a document, well, really I just typed a sentence or two. But I wasn't able to save it. In Google Docs, I was able to save and revise. I can see how useful these online apps could be -especially for revising shared docs. And the ability to work n any computer at any time provides so much flexibilty. Cool!

Week 6 Thing17

Ok, I went to the sandbox(sounds like something Luna and Merlot might say)and added a comment to one of the thingies. But when I tried to add my Blog name,I wasn't successful. I'll try again.
